  Efflock was presented to the AGM of the buying group 'Tile Power' this afternoon. The meeting was kindly hosted by the building chemicals company Ardex, at their facility in Sydney, and we were invited along to present to the group among other presentations.   Hydrophobic sealer for masonry release

  Efflock is about to release it's sister product called "Hydrophobic Sealer for Masonry". This new label will promote Efflock's lesser known function as a premium water repellent sealer for porous masonry. This sealer is a stand alone product, sold as a maximum concentrate that dilutes with water 9 times. This concept is in line with our goal to reduce plastic packaging, reduce transport costs and emissions, whilst providing toolbox convenience and the best economy. 1 litre of "Hydrophobic Sealer for Masonry" makes 10 litres of sealer, equating to around half the cost of existing equivalent sealers.

  How to remove efflorescence

  Efflorescence is very simply caused by the action of water entering masonry. That water then dissolves inherent salts, the most abundant of those salts is usually what's known as 'free lime' which is left surplus from the matrix of the concrete. Removing efflorescence is difficult and labour intensive, and requires acid based remover. Many products attempt to mask the word 'acid' with "water based" and other jargon, and will often mask any unpleasant odour with a nice scent such as lemon.   What does Efflock cost?

  It's actually much more cost effective than the usual method. In the scenario where you membrane first and screed second, using Efflock negates the need for a secondary membrane, and provides better protection. Efflock is designed for tile beds, and cement-based tile adhesives and grouts, providing complete protection for all 3 layers that cause leaching. 1 litre is enough additive for 16m2, or 3 typical-sized bathrooms. A typical rate for secondary membranes in the Sydney region is $30-40/m2 installed. By comparison, Efflock costs as little as $4/m2* to impregnate a 40mm thick screed, tile adhesive and grout.
