  4000m2 of New Tiling Protected With Efflock

  The builder of a large residential apartment complex under construction in Mascot, near Sydney Airport has specified Efflock for over 4000m2 of external tiling around the complex.  Project manager, Joe Metlage of Casumo Constructions enquired about Efflock late last month. "Like many builders, we've experienced problems with Efflorescence in the past, and we are excited that Efflock will provide cost effective protection on our projects going forward" he said.   North Ryde train station stairs closed due to efflorescence.

  The Epping to Chatswood railway line was opened in 2009 at a cost of $2.3 billion.   The genius of Efflock is that it is compatible with all cementitious mixes, including off-the-shelf tile adhesives and tile grouts.  On a tiled floor, this means that all 3 layers that contribute to efflorescence can be protected - tile bed, tile adhesive and tile grout.  Look for our infographic instructions on the side of our drums for how to add Efflock to a tile screed. For proprietary kiln-dried bagged products, simply add 1 part Efflock to 100 parts of water to use as your gauging water. No secondary membrane required!   Did you know? Efflorescence can be a liable defect.

    Builders and tilers beware.In the past leaching or efflorescence was regarded as a 'maintenance issue' for building owners. However, since 2007 it has been listed as a defect in the national publication: 'Guide to Standards and Tolerances'. At the bottom of page 49 of the guide, is the following clause: "13.08 Calcification and efflorescence associated with decks and balconies   Calcification or efflorescence caused by water coming from a deck or balcony that occurs on walls below or beside the deck or balcony; or that appears in the mortar joints of the deck or balcony tiling, is a defect.   Efflorescence on ABC1's Gardening Australia:

    Efflorescence is such a common building defect around Sydney and Australia. Did anyone else see Gardening Australia last night? Above: Check out the efflorescence coming up out of the grout joints from the tile bed on these balconies just next to Costa Georgiadis as he reported from an apartment complex in Redfern, Sydney. There was a fair bit of efflorescence seeping from render as well during the story. Using Efflock is the very best prevention for efflorescence. So simple and very economical.

  Save building costs with Efflock

      Secondary membranes to control efflorescence are now obsolete and no longer required. Efflock added to concrete mixes such as tile beds and grout bulk impregnates the entire material to make them water repellant . Without water able to freely penetrate these materials, efflorescence cannot occur. The labour and cost savings are a big advantage, and bad weather is less of a worry with construction times.
