  Considering paving? - Know about crypto-florescence.

  These granite pavers may look it, but they are not wet. The darkened perimeters are a form of efflorescence called crypto-florescence. Crypto-florescence is when efflorescence is absorbed into the pores of the stone. Because it is within the stone, it cannot be removed with acid cleaners. This defect is also known as 'picture framing'.The source of the efflorescence is from the sand and cement bed beneath the paving that has wicked up between the joints and absorbed into the perimeter of each paver.   Efflorescence in Sydney CBD

  Efflorescence and crypto-florescence is everywhere in paving across Sydney's CBD. These images are taken in the iconic Martin Place. This unsightly scourge is easily prevented by mixing screeds, glues and grouts with 1% Efflock in the water.

  Pool + Spa Review

  Efflock has featured on Pool + Spa Review's website this week. Please check out the article here. Efflock is ideal for use in render above the water line behind pool tiles. Its also excellent for use in tile screeds and grout in pool surrounds to prevent efflorescence, crypto-florescence and prevent salt attack caused by pool chemicals.  When paving with porous materials such a sandstone, bluestone, concrete or brick pavers, Efflock is excellent as both a pre-sealer and impregnating sealer to again prevent salt attack that can occur from crystallisation of pool chemicals.

  DesignEx Sydney - Tile and Stone Seminar

  Last week saw DesignEx at the Sydney Exhibition Centre - not the bulldozed one, but the temporary building at Glebe Island. Within DesignEx was the tile and stone seminar, where there were 3 days of many different speakers. Each were experts in different facets of the tile and stone industry. All of the topics were incredibly interesting, from the scientific structure of bluestone (basalt), to the evolution and latest trends in tiling and installation.
